He Restores

The gospel is good news: it doesn’t just contain good news. The word ‘gospel’ itself means good news. It isn’t good news not merely because it contains ‘exceeding great and precious promises of we could hope to receive in the afterlife, but because it reveals God’s intervention into every condition imaginable affecting us right here on earth.

One of the greatest good news of the scriptures is the fact of RESTORATION – the sheer realization that death is not final, that loses are not permanent, that hurts are not beyond healing, that in fact, nothing is irreparable, or  irredeemable (except of course, Satan).

The Psalmist said, “Lord, you know my frame; you remember that we are dust.” In other words, God understands the human nature. He knows that we all goof, we all make poor choices. He knows that bad things happen to us. He is aware that there is a Satan running rampant in the earth, injuring creation… And so God has graciously manifested His mercy in the operation of restoration.

He restores!

He heals!

He repairs!

I am thrilled at the possibility of regeneration. Titus 3:5 speaks of the washing of regeneration. “In biology, regeneration is the process of renewal, restoration, and tissue growth that makes genomes, cells, organisms, and ecosystems resilient to natural fluctuations or events that cause disturbance or damage. Every species is capable of regeneration, from bacteria to humans.[ Regeneration can either be complete[where the new tissue is the same as the lost tissue,[or incomplete.” (Wiki)

“The Caudata (“urodeles”; salamanders, and newts), an order of tailed amphibians is possibly the most adept at regeneration, given their capability of regenerating limbs, tails, jaws, eyes and a variety of internal structures. Such reality exists! God put it there!

Such powers exist, and God owns it.

Our ‘recreated’ spirits were restored. Our souls are being restored. David says in Psalm 23:3, “He restores my soul”, and our bodies would eventually be restored.

Are you hurting today? Have you been abused and damaged? Have you made mistakes? Are you broken? Don’t worry, He can fix it. He restores!
